Permanently disconnect a supply

You can request to permanently disconnect an energy supply if your property no longer requires electricity. This could be, for example, if a house was being demolished.

General enquiries

Before you start

We will need the following information:

  • Address of the property / properties with the date from which the customer will have site responsibility
  • Your contact details
  • Point of contact for site access
  • MPAN and meter serial numbers (if known)
  • Planned demolition date
  • Earliest date(s) for both meter removal and disconnection

It's easy to find out if we work in your area, all we need is your site postcode.

What happens next?

Low voltage disconnections can usually be carried out within 21 working days. However 6 month's notice may be required to remove high voltage substation plants. 

For EHV connections, we should be contacted at an early stage so that we can agree on a programme for the removal of equipment.

Do I need to inform my supplier?

We will let your supplier know that we plan to carry out a disconnection, however you should contact them so that you can arrange for your supply contract(s) to be terminated.
